Polar Bears and Huskies Make Friends and Play in Churchill, Canada
In Nature’s Weirdest Events, BBC 2, January 1st 2013 Chris Packham presented amazing footage of polar bears and huskies playing on the shores of Hudson Bay in Churchill, Canada.
This first happened in 1992, when owner Brian Ladoon couldn’t reach his chained-up huskies as a starving polar bear advanced. The bear approached one dog with a hunting gait, but when the husky crouched into a play shape the bear started dancing and playing with the dog.
The bear returned the next year just before the sea froze to play with the dogs once again, and that started an annual pilgrimage. Moreover, it also brought other polar bears, and seven have been counted playing with huskies.
